September, the month where Summer starts coming to an end, the kids go back to school and the nights start to draw in. Most people either have a love or a hate relationship with this time of year, as equestrians we know that the long, cold, wet nights and the dark early mornings are about to set in for winter.
So if your someone who is really sad to see the end of summer and needs a silver lining, here are some fun dates for your diary to keep you going until Christmas (because who doesn’t love Christmas?!).
19th-22ndSeptember – Blenheim Horse Trails
This is probably one of the last big events of the season, it is such a lovely event with lots of big names and some great shopping (sadly not us just yet!).
20thSeptember – Rugby World Cup starts
Even if you're not a Rugby fan, it’s still a good excuse to have a few friends round to watch the England match or maybe head to the local for a couple.
2nd-6thOctober – HOYS
Whether your into Showing, Showjumping, or neither, Horse of the Year Show is a great day out for everyone! The shopping is normally great for some pre-Christmas gift ideas and there is always some fantastic displays on between classes.
4thOctober- World Animal Day
As if we needed another excuse to show how much we love are animals, the world of social media created a special day just for us to spam all our friends and followers with cute animal pictures!
31stOctober – Halloween
Halloween is a time to have some fun! Enter you and your horse in a Halloween themed competition; go trick or treating with the kids, or try throwing a fancy dress yard party!
5thNovember- Bonfire night
For a lot of people Bonfire night can be a very stressful time, especially the weeks running up to it if you have animals that are scared of the bangs! Luckily there are lots of great calmers on the market and vets are always around to help give advice on how best to safeguard your animals.
13thNovember- World Kindness Day
Social Media can make this world a hard place to be sometimes, often a day doesn’t go by where you don’t see some kind of negative behaviour on Instagram or Facebook. World Kindness Day is a good way of reminding us not to fall into that way of thinking; try and make at least one positive engagement on somebody’s post that day and make someone smile!
29thNovember-2ndDecember – BFCM
Black Friday – Cyber Monday: the weekend that the internet goes mad! This weekend is the perfect time to get all your Christmas bargains, you will be bombarded constantly via email and on social media with offers and deals, but when its over, its over, so don’t miss out! Remember to keep an eye out on your favourite brands (like us of course) so you can be prepared.
16th-22ndDecember - Olympia
For Showjumpers Olympia is the sign that Christmas is close! Always around a week before Christmas this show is packed with great shopping, amazing jumping and some exciting displays!
24th-26thDecember - CHRISTMAS
Eat drink and be merry!!
