January 2020; The start of a new month, a new year and a new decade. The perfect time to reflect on how far you have come in the last ten years (or even one year) and a great time to start setting yourself some goals for the coming month, year and decade!
Goals don’t have to be something major like ‘Qualify for Badminton’ or ‘Jump 1.30m’, they can be really simple goals to set you on your way like, ‘ride in the school once this week’ or ‘hack more than 3 times this week’.
Start by writing down some goals for you and your horse for 2020, and then think about which one you want to achieve by the end of January, come the end of January if you have completed your goal you can choose another one for February and so on.
When it comes to goal setting, sometimes its easier if you have a template to work from, try using these bullet points to help you understand your goals better:
- What is my goal?
- How can I achieve this?
- Why do I want to achieve this?
- How will I feel when I achieve this?
- When do I want to achieve this by?
By understand your goals better you will make a bigger connection with them and therefore will make them more achievable.
Don’t forget to make time for yourself in these goals; self-care is super important, especially if you’re fitting your horse in around full time jobs and other commitments. Add a few personal goals in like ‘Take more baths’ or ‘Bake a cake this month’.
But remember whatever your goals and aims are for this year, have fun whilst doing it!!
