After an amazingly warm summer, the weather is finally starting to cool a bit and those autumnal feels are starting to creep in. Although we’ve got another month yet before autumn really hits the days are starting to get slightly longer, the weather has been a bit more rainy and we’ve had the odd dark grey day.
For horse riders this is a great time of year to think about the wintery months ahead. Rider and road safety has been more and more in the press lately due to an increase in road accidents involving horses. In light of this we have stocking up with some Hi-viz gear for both horse and rider.
Hi-viz Waterproof Exercise Sheet
The Sheldon Hi-viz exercise sheet is waterproof and fleece lined, making it perfect for the colder, rainier days so you can stay visible whilst on the road. The exercise sheet can be worn both under the saddle, or on colder days, it can be wrapped around the rider too. The rug also features a fillet string for windy days and reflective strips to help visibility in the dark.
Harry Hall Softshell Hi-viz Gloves
These hi-viz gloves are made from a water resistant softshell material with a silicone palm, making them perfect for wet wintery days. The gloves also feature reinforced panels for added protection in areas most needed for equestrian use. The reflective strips increase visibility in dark weather and the gloves are available in sizes small, medium and large.
Equisafety Flashing Attachment
During darker nights the Equisafety Flashing attachment can be added to almost any strap for extra visibility, including the bridle, reins, martingale, saddle and rugs. It fastens with Velcro and which means it can be adjusted to fit a variety of strap widths. If your limited on time to ride your horse then this is a great accessory to have, allowing you to ride early in the mornings or late evenings during the winter.
